We decided to step up for our first charity activity and begin with helping a UK based charity center “Mango Tree Goa”
Mango Tree Goa is a UK based charity center founded in the year 2012 that focuses on the upbringing disadvantaged children mostly dwelling in the slums an similar living conditions regardless of their religion, caste or gender. The Charity Center is funded voluntarily. The Organisation believes every child has the right to undergo a fruitful childhood by educating and nurturing the child with good values.
We too believe the best help we can offer to children is to help them become self dependent and capable through education. And hence we all contributed a bit by offering stationary items such as books, pencils, pens, etc.
We had great experience interacting with these tiny kids. The joy we saw on their faces when they received us was indeed something we can cherish.!
As we kept moving within the center, we entered each classroom and were well greeted by these little children. Each child from the class was asked to come forward and recite or enact something basic that was being taught such as spellings of weekdays, rhymes etc. It’s very impressive to observe how fast they learn and enjoy despite living in poor conditions and being financially backward. Learning how happy they were despite knowing about their shortcomings was something to ponder about!
Here are some glimpses of the school
Our colleague Suryanand decided to pose on one of their artworks!
